Are your systems or lack of systems stopping your bookkeeping business from growing?
When I first started my bookkeeping business, my systems were non-existent. They were all in my head and the stress of forgetting something was weighing me down. I didn’t allow my business to grow because I wasn’t happy with my systems.
I kept writing & rewriting checklists and knew my business was inefficient. My filing system was all over the place both physical & computerised and I was so overwhelmed I didn’t know where to start and wouldn’t start until I knew what the BEST way was.
Admittedly my mentor helped we with the feeling of overwhelm and got me started. It wasn’t difficult to do but I just needed a confidence boost and a nudge to encourage me to start systemising my bookkeeping business.
I also became a licensee of Pure Bookkeeping. Among its many benefits, the Pure Bookkeeping System gave me the structure, support and clear direction on how to get started and many done-for-you checklists and templates.
We all know our stuff, we are good at what we do, qualified and gaining experience everyday but sometimes the simple things like organisation and systems just feel like they are too big & unknown. What’s the best system, how best to organise the thoughts and plan in our head.
Well from experience the best way to overcome overwhelm is to JUST START.
I think we would all agree systemisation is required in our businesses. If first started with my Client Manual. I documented all the information in my head about each client. I created a simple 2 page word document that had sub-headings that captured all the important information. I’m offering this document to you in the hope it inspires you to JUST START.
